Our mission at Asimov is to advance humanity's ability to design living systems, enabling biotechnologies with outsized benefit to society. We're developing a mammalian synthetic biology platform––from cells to software––to enable the design and manufacture of next-generation therapeutics.
Asimov, Inc. seeks a full time Scientist at our offices located at 201 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
Scientist is a technical expert who will be responsible for conducting CHO-based cell line engineering for biologic therapeutics, designing complex experimental approaches to improve our workflows and systems, coordinating project efforts, and mentoring junior scientists.

Duties include:

  • Perform CHO cell line development cell culture processes including transfection, cloning, characterization, and cell banking.
  • Perform fed-batch bioreactor analyses on CHO cells
  • Perform Octet and HPLC analytical analyses
  • Design complex experiments, analyze data, troubleshoot, and maintain detailed records
  • Mentor and train junior scientists
  • Present scientific data to colleagues and clients, and prepare presentations and summary reports
  • Identify emerging practices and drive innovation for biologics cell line development and manufacturing to shape scientific strategies and develop improved workflows.
  • Represent the cell line development team on cross-functional projects, making decisions for cell line activities and effectively communicating results, progress and plans.=

Position requirements:

  • Master’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Biological Engineering, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or closely related field, plus 2 years of experience in any scientist, or related position.
  • Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include the following:
  • 2 years of experience working with CHO cell culture
  • 2 years of experience maintaining detailed records, such as working within an electronic laboratory notebook
  • 1 year of experience titering monoclonal antibodies
  • 1 year of cell culture metabolite analysis
  • 1 year of research for improving cell line development or process development workflows
  • 1 year of experience running bioreactors on CHO cells, including programming, inoculating, harvesting, and troubleshooting
  • 1 year of experience with DOE or data analysis software (for example, JMP, MODDE)
  • 1 year of experience presenting data and summary slides in team and/or department meetings
  • 1 year of experience working with spreadsheets such as Google Sheets or Excel

We're fueled by a vision to transform biological engineering into a fully-fledged engineering discipline. Should you join our team, you will grow with a constantly evolving organization and push the frontiers of synthetic biology. Company culture is key to Asimov, and ours is a culture of recombination; we believe that our mission can only be achieved by bringing together a diverse team with a mixture of backgrounds and perspectives.
