Here at Hometap, we’re collaborative, passionate, and always ready to roll up our sleeves to create solutions that help people get more out of homeownership — and out of life. Our first product, a home equity investment, gives homeowners the opportunity to quickly access the equity they’ve built in their home to pay for what’s most important to them, from handling debt to finally making much-needed renovations, without taking on debt.
We work hard, and have some fun along the way, too. You don’t have to take our word for it: The Boston Globe and Comparably have recognized us as a great place to work, and we’ve been honored for our commitment to innovation in the fintech space by BostInno, HousingWire, and more!
In case you need any more convincing, we also provide competitive compensation, healthcare coverage, unlimited PTO, a generous share package, and a strong culture with plenty of opportunities for team-building and camaraderie.
Interested in joining us on our mission to make homeownership less stressful and more accessible? We’d love to talk.
Who You Are
As a Hometap Director of Software Architecture, you’ll be responsible for critical foundational technology initiatives within Hometap’s Technical Product Organization (TPO). Key areas of focus for the role will be the identification, investigation, prioritization, and execution of our software architecture improvements while also growing, nurturing, and supporting the current architecture team. This is a unique role where deep hands-on technical skills, technical product management, and leadership skills come together. You will collaborate closely with engineering management, product, design, and business champions, bringing success and value to all of Hometap’s stakeholders: homeowners, investment partners, and the Hometap team.
What you will bring
The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of software engineering experience showing progressive technical growth, a substantial amount of time in a Software Architect position, and experience in people management. You have an expert understanding of all things SDLC including but not limited to: Cloud architectures, AWS, MVC systems, DevOps, scaling integrations, and service monitoring. You can build a vision for the future application of technology, know how to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, are able to communicate and advocate for high level software initiatives, and can keep our technology goals on-point and on-track. Bonus points for familiarity with Salesforce integrations, Django/Python, Camunda BPM, and React.

What You Will Do

  • Address high-level areas for improvement in our technology
  • Manage a team of architects and contribute directly to bringing organization-wide beneficial technologies to fruition
  • Own the forward-looking analysis of product roadmap to identify potential needs for architectural improvement
  • Work with Product, Design, and Engineering Management to prioritize, appropriately resource, and execute on software architecture work across all of TPO
  • Communicate regularly at all levels of the company about current architectural efforts/benefits and our future technology vision
  • Contribute to engineering process improvements
  • Play a key role in technical brainstorming & decision making
  • Coordinate the software architectural education and upskilling of the technical team
