We are looking for a highly entrepreneurial and experienced finance professional to support our financial operations at group level.

The Financial Controller is responsible for the management of day-to-day finance processes across our Marketplace team including revenue recognition, receivables, payments, reconciliations, intra-group transactions, cash flow management and tax reporting.

The position is responsible for all Financial Control activities for the Marketplace team via the management of the financial control function and team.

What you'll do

  • Management of the finance function: Oversee all day-to-day finance processes across the Seedrs Group including revenue recognition, intra-group transactions, bank relationships and cash flow management, plus supporting HR and payroll.
  • Internal and external financial reporting: manage preparation, variance analysis, annual accounts and tax returns; leading and ownership of the statutory audit.
  • Regulatory reporting: Ensure all regulatory reporting is prepared and submitted accurately and on time.
  • Financial Forecasting and Planning: Support with the production of budgets and financial forecasts for the business.
  • International operations & subsidiaries: Maintaining accurate accounting records for UK & EU entities, working closely with external accountants were necessary.
  • Team leadership: manage a team of one highly skilled and motivated partially qualified accountant, with the view to grow the team further in the foreseeable future.
  • Strategic and operational projects: leading and supporting across various projects including group tax strategy and procedures (CT, VAT, R&D, TP), unit economics and cost apportionment, while continuously looking to optimize and improve our financial and wider business processes and controls.

Our ideal candidate

Essential:

  • Proven experience at Senior Finance Manager or Financial Controller level, including: people management, liaising with senior leaders, core technical accounting, and commercially-focused.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficient with Excel, BI tools and other financial systems and would be able to use your skills to create modelling, reports and finance analysis.
  • Proactive and pragmatic. A self starter able to balance high standards with a pragmatic approach to making progress in the most efficient way.
  • Superior communication skills. Proven ability to communicate financial concepts simply and clearly to non-financial audiences
  • Relationship building and a collaborative approach. Experienced in building relationships with a range of different stakeholders, engendering trust easily able to re-enforcing finance as an enabler of strategic decision making across different teams.

Desirable:

  • Experience in an FCA regulated entity
  • Understanding of R&D tax credits and Transfer pricing

Education & qualifications:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with 3+ years PQE.
